ARP Review of Resources:

Internet | Library | Personal Network | Cadre| Additional Resources | Learning Theory

What is already known in the field about this topic?
The National ROV Competition project is a relatively new project. This year represents the third annual event. A website at the Marine Advanced Technology Education Center (MATE) is the main informational site. There is information in the archives on that site. Additionally, MATE has objective surveys and subjective interviews on the competition and process. http://www.marinetech.org/rov_competition/index.php

Have others already tried what you intend? Were they successful?
The event has been successfully run twice previously throughout different areas of the country. I have not been able to obtain any baseline data related to constructivist learning or leadership to date with respect to prior projects. I will be researching comparable constructivist learning projects involving schools and CoPs and identify those as the project progresses.

What resources will you need and how will you get them?
I will need to obtain the MATE teacher training manuals, competition standards and the objective and subjective data from the MATE center. Jill Zande, the MATE outreach coordinator will provide these to me for the research project. Additionally, I will need information from the National Science Foundation on Advanced Technology Education Center related to the evaluation of Advanced Technology Education projects.
I will also need a complete list of teachers and teams that intend to participate in the competition. I will get that from the teacher seminar in January.
