"Real Success is finding your lifework in the work that you love."
- David McCullogh
I was honored to be selected by my peers at Santa Barbara City College to deliver the 29th Annual Ffaculty Lecture this past April. The presentation was held April 9th 2008 at SBCC Garvin Theatre and is considered the highestFaculty honor.
It was attended by over 400 persons from the local community, friends and family, diving industry and City College faculty and students. This will remain as a highpoint in my academic career always. I was the first "vocational" educator to receive the award in the history of the college. Very humbling.
I decided to present on the evolution of underwater technology to pay tribute to my discipline and profession. My experience at Pepperdine University OMET had me well prepared to utilize some priciples of constructivist learning and my community of practice (CoP). Again, thanks
Paul, cadre and others.
(No slimeheads, remember that speech? I wore orange to remind me of the 'orange roughy graduation talk' from the doctoral student..)
I have more media of the introduction video and slideshows used as a prelude to the lecture here.
You can also view a pdf of the Lecture Program by clicking here. Noozhawk also ran an an online story of the event.
